DELTA STATE STUDENTS ENCOURAGED TO OBTAIN NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (NIN)

Published 07 May 2026

The Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board has advised all students of Delta State origin to obtain and validate their National Identification Number (NIN) as part of ongoing efforts to improve transparency, efficiency, and digital verification in the administration of bursary and scholarship programmes across the State.

According to the Board, the NIN remains a mandatory requirement for students seeking to benefit from government educational support initiatives, including bursary awards, scholarship schemes, and Students Special Assistance Programmes (SSAS).

Students are therefore encouraged to:

• Register for their National Identification Number (NIN) at approved enrolment centres
• Ensure that their NIN details correspond correctly with their academic and personal records
• Use active phone numbers and valid email addresses during registration
• Safeguard their NIN slip and registration details for future verification exercises
The Board emphasized that the integration of NIN into the student support process is aimed at strengthening identity verification, eliminating duplication, improving data management, and ensuring that only qualified and genuine students benefit from government interventions.

Parents, guardians, institutions, and student bodies are also encouraged to support awareness efforts to ensure that all eligible students comply with the directive ahead of future application and verification exercises.

The Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board remains committed to providing transparent, accessible, and technology-driven educational support services to students across the State.
